"Kapitan Dranitsyn" is a powerful conventional propelled icebreaker, built in March 1980 at shipyard Wartsila, Finland. It's not an "ice-strengthened" ship : "Kapitan Dranitsyn" is a powerful icebreaker designed for working in the conditions of the Arctic region and the Baltic Sea. This icebreaker belongs to the Russian State and is currently under the management of the Murmansk Shipping Company. "Kapitan Dranitsyn" operates cruises to the most remote places on our planet. In 1999 she was upgraded in Norway and got a passenger vessel certificate. The "baptism of fire" of the crew was its first three-month cruise to the Arctic and five-month expedition at Antarctica shores. In 1996 the vessel completed its first Polar circumnavigation, a route that was repeated in 1999 and 2000. "Kapitan Dranitsyn" has 49 comfortable outside cabins for 100 passengers. All the cabins have: big bathroom, a desk and two beds. Standard cabin can comfortably accommodate three people. Public places include spacious drawing rooms, bars, a swimming pool with warm water, gym and sauna. From the navigation bridge and all decks passengers can enjoy excellent views of the landscapes. The vessel has a library, an elevator and a doctor's office.
Public areas include restaurant, bars, public lounges, fitness center, sauna and swimming pool with sea water, big lecture hall with comfortable armchairs.
"Everyone of you is a consummate professional in your business. Each crewmember represents your Company with dignity. We witnessed the performance of your officers in the emergency of a gale. The passengers fully trusted you and confided in the decisions you were taking. It was an experience that would stick in our memory forever".
